THE OTHER FLAG

When I was a young man and filled with Wheaties and Spinach and not so filled with the Holy Spirit but still believing many things by faith, I believe I was “called” by the Lord to a specific task. (We all are called. This was just a personal call to me.) I heard the Lord say to me: “Feed my sheep.” After some quiet listening I asked the Lord, “Do you mean feed others by teaching the gospel from your Word or to feed others physically?” I heard the Lord clearly tell me: “Yes.”

And that was the flag I was given to carry. And since that day it has been my purpose to prepare myself to teach and write and proclaim as best I can with the skills and gifts the Lord has given me. The other half of the ‘yes’ was to feed the hungry with physical food. Roz and I and every thing we have ever been a part of have given emphasis to feeding the hungry in the wisest ways we can locally, nationally and globally. We still do. I also still proclaim as best I can. I have not heard the final buzzer yet.

The first flag is “to take up the cross and follow Jesus” and other/same flag is to do what we are called and asked to do by the Lord while toting that cross. I beat my drum and tambourine and march to that and plant my flag on that. I encourage everyone to do the same.
We do what we are told to do if it is the Lord speaking.

“If anyone wants to follow me, he must give up himself and his own desires. He must take up his cross everyday and follow me.” Jesus
