SIN MANAGEMENT

Dallas Willard (1935-2013) wrote concerning the confusion and loss of preoccupation with a salvation only gospel instead emphasis on the Kingdom of God. He quotes John Calvin (1509-1564) the French reformer and creator of the Calvinism Theology on his comments on John 3 concerning being “born again” or born from above. Calvin wrote, “They are mistaken who think the Kingdom of God means Heaven. It is rather the spiritual life, which is begun by faith in this world and daily increases according to the continual progress of faith.” (From The Gospel according to St John, by John Calvin)

This only means there is much more to the Christian life than a mental assent and a hand raised to “receive salvation and go to heaven when we die” whatever that means. To me it means very little if anything. The gospel of salvation is ‘sin management’ and the Gospel of the Kingdom is to daily live in and for the Lordship of Christ and His Kingdom.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Jesus
