WORKS OF BEAUTY
The word beauty means faithful, splendor, glory, charming, attractive; it also takes on the very important theme of grace and beauty. This is equivalent to “well-pleasing.”
Jesus is the beauty of the Father sent to us. He is also known as the Word. The Gospel of John 1:14-19:
“And the Word became flesh (human), and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testified about Him and called out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who is coming after me has proved to be my superior, because He existed before me.’” For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time; God the only Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.”
The work of God or the work of beauty is to believe in the Beauty that God the Father of Beauty has sent to us. Then to do the Beauty that He does and become the beauty he is.
“When Jesus was asked, ‘what shall we do to do the works of God?’ He answered, “Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man shall give to you, for on Him the Father, even God, has set His seal.” They said therefore to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” Jesus
