TRASHY DAY
“Modesto, California — Around 4:02 a.m. on Monday (April 13, 2026), Modesto Fire crews responded to the area of 12th and I Street after a person was discovered inside a garbage truck.
According to Modesto Fire, Engine 1, Truck 1, and Battalion Chief 1 were called to the scene. Crews began investigating after reports that a person had been detected inside the truck’s cargo area.
Officials said the garbage truck driver noticed the individual on the vehicle’s internal camera system while collecting trash and before the compaction process began.
Fire crews accessed the top of the truck and safely assisted the person out of the vehicle. The individual was then evaluated for injuries at the scene.
Officials said the person sustained minor injuries. Further details about the individual were not immediately released.”
