THE COST OF WAR
On a couple of news feeds that I read regularly, there was repeated mention of the daily cost of war (i.e., Iran, etc.), and it was reported the cost was $1 billion plus per day to pay for the United States military efforts in Iran. The article then gave the days and totals of how much money that is on the United States budget. That, of course, is a scary number of dollars.
What was not one time mentioned in the Cost of War article was the thousands of people who are killed, or displaced from homes and communities, the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, playgrounds, industrial buildings, bridges, water ways, roadways, farm land, internal structure of electricity supply, water and sewer, factories, food sources, valued antiquities, historic sites, religious structures and so forth.
Not one word was mentioned in the Cost of War about danger, stress, bravery, courage or potential loss of life to military personnel (both the good guys and the bad guys). All that was mentioned was what it all cost in dollars. I think the standard answer is: War is war. War cost a lot of money.
War costs more than money.
