The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy and encouraged him to “Fight the good fight of the faith.” Later in the same chapter he says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” The only good fight is the one we win.
Winston Churchill (1874-1965) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom once said, “Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
I see little difference in a physical fight or a spiritual fight in this Churchill quote. Fight the fight. Finish the race. Keep the faith. Let’s do it while we can do it without restriction. Better to die than be a slave.
“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning.” Jesus
