REFLECTION OF HEART AND SOUL

The Cherokee writer Joyce Sequichie Hifler wrote, “Late evening is a good time to walk down the field road where the cows graze on tufts of new green grass. Late rains have brought new growth to the meadows and wild flowers are coloring the slopes and soft, rolling hills. Field sparrows talk about intruders and a killdeer cries for attention so she can lead us astray from her second brood. The voice of the redbird, calls to its mate somewhere in the deep woods. This time brings to remembrance things gone by and the shape of things to come. It is peaceful, prayerful, and personal. Even the sunset that spreads rouge across the horizon is a reflection of heart and soul. It is a joy, a feast of days, a high point of life, a quiet moment when rest is needed.”

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus
