OWNERSHIP
John Harbaugh, National Football League coach, recently released by The Baltimore Colts and then quickly hired by the New York Giants as their new coach (January 2026), made this comment: “I promise you, we all report to the boss. And the boss is ownership.”
‘We all report to the boss, and the boss is the owner.’ Sounds like Coach has been reading Paul: “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). When we agree to the terms of the Kingdom, we are under new ownership, ‘we were bought with a high price.’
Because of the transaction we have a new owner:
“Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.” (Jude 1:4)
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah” (Acts 2:36”
“You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am” (John 13:13).
“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy” (1 Peter 3:15).
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” (Luke 6:46).
“Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
Jesus Christ the Lord, is our owner. He is boss.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Jesus
