MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’ And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” (Revelation 19:7-9)
The Marriage Supper is based on the marriage customs of the days of Jesus. There were three parts in a Jewish wedding: The signing of a covenant agreement between parents and bride and groom (like our engagement period), a march through the streets carrying torches to the home of the bride by the bridegroom and friends and the third phase was the actual Marriage Supper with bride and groom and friends and might go on for days. John’s message in Revelation 19 is referring to the third phase and completion of the marriage supper of the Lamb and consummation of bride and groom.
Oh, what a party this will be! It will be like the Wedding in Cana where Jesus turned water into wine (John 2). Who knows what will be served up here? To say I am looking forward to it would be a failure in communication. I want to be there. I can just see it… I think. I also think that at The Marriage Supper of the Lamb there will be bread and wine and Cuban Coffee and home made Apricot Fried Pies…. I’m sure of it.
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.” Jesus
