While recently marinating some vegetables to grill, I decided to look up the definition of marinate although I knew the basic idea. It is ‘to soak, coat or cover to allow something to become more tender and to be infused while absorbing flavor resting in a marinade bath before cooking.’
Hardly anything comes as close to defining preparation for prayer as marinating… ‘soak, coat, cover, become tender and absorbed with flavor while resting.’ My attempts at prayer often need this preparation. It is simply seeking and preparing for the presence of the Father. Prayer is much easier after Marinating. I find if there is no time for marinating there probably isn’t time for prayer either.
