Most of us have Go to People we can go to with issues we cannot solve on our own. For some of us that means having a good number of people or at least some very capable ones. I have mentioned Roz, John, Jim, Clarence the Eggman and now Loren.
Loren knows a lot of stuff. He knows about building, knows about electrical things such as cathodes and diodes (I think John taught him these things), knows about operating heavy equipment, real estate, Jesus, how to cleanse his mind and spirit, how to build sewer systems, how to build sea walls, how to eat slugs and snails and such from the bottom of the sea, knows about plumbing, knows auto mechanics… especially T-Model Ford’s. He also knows about determining grade levels on building sites, knows how to calculate angles on roof lines and trusses… things like that and a lot of times he wears dress shoes when he does this stuff.
I have learned a lot from Loren… for example: he taught me that one does not need to tie a load on a pick-up or trailer because only about 80% of the time will it fall off, he also taught me that when merging into a traffic lane… just go for it…because about 95% of all people will slam on their brakes and try to avoid hitting you… also that when driving you can look and talk and do as you please because about 90% of the time gravel on the side of the road or another car will serve as a reminder that you are out of your lane. Maybe what best describes Loren is his motto for working on projects large and small: “Do you want it done or do you want it done right? Then why did you call me?” Loren is one of my best friends for many years.
