GIVING GIMMICKS

Recently I read in a newspaper about people who were giving to a local Arts Center. They were listed by name as Contributors with these designations by their names:
Platinum Contributors $500-999
Gold $200-499
Silver $100-199
Bronze $ 50-99

That was all of the designations so I added a few more:
Tin $49-30
Aluminum Foil $29-10
Cardboard $9.99 -1.00

This is about as annoying as the requests I get daily from Christian organizations that include little boxes to check on how much I want to give: $50,000, 25,000, 10,000, 5,000, 1,000 or ‘Other’ meaning ‘go ahead Mr. Bottom of the Barrel… give Tin or Cardboard.’

These gimmicks must work because they keep sending them. It is as though a person does not have the ability to decide on one’s own how much… if any… one would like to give. These gimmicks do not work on everyone.

“But when you give… do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” Jesus
