N.T. Wright, Anglican Bishop and theologian wrote:
“Jesus’s resurrection is the beginning of God’s new project not to snatch people away from earth to heaven but to colonize earth with the life of heaven. That, after all, is what the Lord’s Prayer is about.”
He also wrote: “Our culture is so fixated on dying and going to heaven when the whole Scripture is about heaven coming to earth.”
N.T. Wright has long been a favorite author of mine. He is a brilliant thinker with the unique ability to communicate difficult and sophisticated things to us bozos with much lesser capacity. One of the common themes in his books is the idea of bringing the life of heaven to earth and not focusing on leaving earth to ‘go to heaven.’ It is a favorite theme of mine as well.
“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” Jesus
