How to Choose a Bible

How to Choose a Bible is a decision that gets a lot of questions and very few good answers. It is probably because there are no simple answers. After all, ‘since the 16th century, there have been around 900 translations into English alone.’ So, what translation should you choose? I would say any of the 900 that suit you would be the best choice.

Of the many translations there are hundreds of types of the same translation. There are many cover colors, printing colors, notes, commentary, pictures, maps and you name it… it’s out there.

This to me is the most import criterion:

1. Everyone should own and read a Children’s Bible.
Such as: ‘The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Children’s
Stories’ by Zonderkids

2. All other important Bible considerations:

– It should be a black Bible… to be a real Bible
– It should say Holy on it somewhere
– The best size is probably the size of say: 3”x6” or
4”x7” or 5”x8” or 6”x9” or 7”x10” or 8”x11” 9”x12” or
Coffee Table size 14” or 18” or some other size
you like
– It should be a language style comfortable to
you…plain common English or maybe thou dost
not wanteh nor trusteth that type.

3. That’s about it.
A Children’s Bible to follow the story line.
A black Bible with Holy on it.
Easy reading.

Oh, or just open up your phone and have 150 versions of the Bible in the palm of your hand. Just make sure it is a black phone.

That’s the wise way of Bible selection. The other wise thing is to read it, listen to it, pray over it and believe it.
