WHOSOEVER WILL
John, an apostle, wrote, “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17 KJV)
I learned this verse in the King James Version (see above) with the common phrase of ‘whosoever will, may come.’ Later translations use this sentence, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires, take the water of life without cost.” (New American Standard) The point is the same: let the one who wants it, come and freely get it.
“Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.” (Revelation 22:14-15) Those who freely come to the Lord will be clean, will enter the gates to the new Eden and eat the fruit of the Tree of Life.
Whosoever will may come. Anyone, everyone from every tribe, tongue and nation may come. But here is the way of invitation… it is a choice. A person may also choose not to come. The door of welcome is open.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.” Jesus
