WHAT NO HAS BECOME
It appears that culturally we have decided as a general population that ‘no’ is in some way a judgment, or prejudice, or unkind, or displeasure of some kind. It is as if ‘no’ is simply no longer permitted in decision making. This seems to apply to many parents, governing officials, sports stars, business leaders, school leaders, and church leaders… whatever.
I say that a society that cannot say ‘no’… is soon no society.
For example in a recent article: (Concerning the National Debt) “That means the year over year increase effectively doubled from $1 trillion in 2022 to $2 trillion in 2023. What happened? More than 40% of the deficit increase was due to lower tax revenues, while the government forked over $659 billion in interest payments, nearly doubling over the past two years.” (Morning Brew)
“The debt, which equals the amount of money borrowed by the federal government to cover operating expenses, hit $33.04 trillion Monday (September 23, 2023), according to the Treasury Department. A roughly 50% increase in federal spending between fiscal 2019 and fiscal 2021 contributed to the debt topping $33 trillion, the department said.” (CNBC)
I say again: A society that cannot say ‘no’… is soon no society.
“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.” Jesus
