VONDA’S HELPFUL HINTS
Roz’s sister Vonda was famous for information, remedies, time-savers, money-savers, tips, and various other unknown to anyone else information. For example: One of those great informational issues was that the contents of a ‘cup of soup’ and a ‘bowl of soup’ are about the same but appear differently in the two different sized containers (this is helpful when ordering at a restaurant). This transferred to other surprising measurements… a squatty glass of liquid and a taller more slender glass hold approximately the same amount. Then she always knew secret ways to get stains out of clothing, carpets, auto upholstery or anything else… or how to doctor a cat or get paint off of a chair for refinishing or clever ways to sharpen knifes and scissors or to launder clothes to get them whiter and cleaner than anyone else (except her mother) or how to care for skillets and pots and pans… and how to make them shine with secret common household ingredients. And did I mention regular use of fabric softener sheets in the dryer transfers to the lint screen causing the dryer to be less efficient, eventually causing the dryer to need repair. One only needs to occasionally wash the lint screen. Who knew?
A lot of Vonda’s Hints came from Roz’s mom who also knew all these tricky little things about everything … such as about one hundred different uses for vinegar, from weed killer to gut fixer to health booster and germ fighter… vinegar. She thought a person should drink it everyday with a little honey it in it. It eventually killed her at 95 years old.
It is just good to know Vonda Hints and before she died she had passed along many of these secrets and that’s why we know about some of them.
“I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to little children.” Jesus
