VARACITY OF THE WORD

The veracity of the Word is truth and comes from the Latin, ‘speaking truly and accurately.’ The writer of the Book of Hebrews said, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

The ‘word of God’ is ‘what God speaks’ whether it is a person (Jesus Christ) or written (the scriptures), or revelation given. It is what ‘God has said and is saying.’

The ‘word of God’ is truth. It has power to present truth whether written, spoken, read, conveyed from memory or used in conversation…or from the mouth of a donkey, written in the sand or on a wall.

The ‘word of God’ is like a penetrating sword that filets open the whole person. It is ‘quick,’ ‘powerful,’ ‘sharper than a two edged sword,’ ‘piercing’ (literally ‘coming through’) and discerning between soul and spirit, joint and marrow, and judges the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The Word can be trusted and that’s the truth.

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus
