USED TO BE
The older we get the more easily we notice that things are not the way they used to be. They don’t build stuff like they used to and nothing lasts like it once did. Most things don’t even taste like we remember they should. Even the way we see things and hear things seems so different. Music and young people and movies are just not like they once were. Everything seems so fragile and replaceable and disposable and breakable. And stuff cost so much more and lasts so much less. The church isn’t what used to be and neither are Christian books and literature. Times have really changed.
All we are really referencing is ourselves. And you know this when you point all of this out with an old crooked arthritic finger.
“I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.” Jesus
