UNBEGOTTEN

Hilary of Poitiers (310-367) an early church bishop- wrote concerning Christ, “He is the Offspring of the Unbegotten, One from One, true from true, living from living, perfect from perfect; the Power of Power, the Wisdom of Wisdom, the Glory of Glory, the Likeness of the invisible God, the Image of the Unbegotten Father.”

That about covers it. Think I better get on over to the other side of the pond and try to digest the term… “the Unbegotten Father.” This might take several afternoons and several cups of Cuban Coffee. To begin… ‘Unbegotten’ is not even a word…much less a thought. So where does something come from that is unbegotten? That is the mystery and there are some mysteries I will never know. That’s why I am on this side of the pond. Maybe an ice pack on my head would help while having my coffee.
