TWO ROPES
I once read an old Vaquero saying that said, “Always carry two ropes, because you never know when you will run into more than you can handle.” Of course this could apply to the life of the working vaquero (cowboy) or any other life situation where an extra something might be needed.
One of the most obvious places would be in the wisdom of saving money… even a little extra money for the times when we run into more than we can handle. When the economy is slow and earnings are slower; it can be difficult to practice saving a little extra. But we must make every effort to have a little back up. It is no different than carrying a spare tire, an insurance policy, an exterior back up hard drive, or an extra car key.
What we probably should settle in our minds is the fact that we will run into more than we can handle in some areas sometime and though we are not to be crazy prepared and paranoid; we should try to carry an extra rope when possible in case we run into more than we can handle.
God’s wisdom, however, is shown to be true by its results. Jesus
