TWO CREATIONS #3
The second creation is what takes place in Christ and is on the same order as the first and original act of creation. Still, it is on a higher level than the first. ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God’ (John 1:1-2). What Jesus creates in his second creation supersedes his first. ‘The beginning’ which Jesus brings is superior to the old because his love is revealed in the incarnation and the cross and is a greater love than his love that created the stars, planets, animals and humans.
The eternal and pre-existent God comes to the earth he created to live on it like one of the creatures that he created. Amazing! He takes himself into time and boundaries that are only of the universe and our earth. This is perhaps what the words mean, ‘I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!’ (Luke 12:49) It is the fire of new becoming, new beginning and a new creation. Jesus is the Descended. He has come into our realm to bring the new creation of a new species of men. The fire He brings is to give light to the damaged and darkened existence of sin.
“And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.” Jesus
