TRUTH, GOODNESS AND BEAUTY
These three qualities have been known since the early philosophers as transcendentals. ‘This refers to God’s nature that is wholly independent of a physical, material universe, and beyond physical laws.’ (Wikipedia) Prayer would be an example. They are called transcendent because everything we know and experience in every category of living participates in them to some degree. For example: Love is the path to goodness; reason is the path to truth; and creativity is the path to beauty.
“Truth, goodness, and beauty,” C.S. Lewis wrote, “are the three things we all need, and need absolutely, and know we need”; truth relates to the mind, goodness to the will, and beauty to the heart, feelings, desires, or imagination. These are the only three things that we never get bored with, and never will, for all eternity, because they are attributes of God, and therefore of all God’s creation: three transcendental or absolutely universal properties of all reality.”
“Truth is good and beautiful; goodness is true and beautiful; beauty is true and good,” said another way.
The Kingdom way is Truth, Goodness and Beauty.
“If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from myself.” Jesus
