TRUTH DECAY II
Continuing from yesterday’s Journal entry on Truth Decay and how to prevent it.
Proverbs 3:3-4:
“Do not let mercy and truth forsake you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.”
Truth must be ingested into the body, mind and spirit. It can’t just be truth from a book… chapter and verse. Verification of truth is in our behavior, walking and talking and worship. Truth is formed in us by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Jeremiah, a prophet, told us: “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law within them and write it in their hearts;
and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
(31:33) We are not under a covenant of stone but a covenant of grace and mercy written on our hearts. The law is now within us and it is a Person.
There is major Truth Decay when law, religion, legalism and performance are taught as truth.
Paul, an apostle, reminds us again of the Jeremiah text: “This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (Hebrews 8:10)
Truth Decay is by ignoring the path to good practices with the Person within us. Truth lives when the lie is defeated. Decay is delayed when truth prevails and we have brushed and flossed away the lies.
“I am the way, the truth and the life…” Jesus
