TRAINING FOR REIGNING II
In yesterday’s Journal entry we covered some ideas about ‘ruling and reigning of creation’ from Genesis 1:28. We continue with: “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” (Genesis 1:28 NLT)
The ways and methods of Kingdom reign and rule apply to all of creation. Our King Jesus is our pattern and standard for ruling and reigning. How is this done?
I recently wrote to a friend: “I suppose my connection to the article was at the beginning as he talked of his childhood… In my childhood I don’t ever remember when I did not talk to trees, flowers, rivers, birds, animals and other living things. I still do.” (Commenting on an article ‘The Plants that Heal’ by William Thomas Okie, Plough Magazine) I suppose I was training for reigning and didn’t know it.
All created flesh is not the same. Paul, an apostle wrote: “All things made of flesh are not the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds have another, and fish have another.”
(1Corinthians15:39) Humans are different from animals in several ways; primarily they have a soul and the ability for reasoned and analytical thought and complicated solutions and developed language among others. Humans are the only known species to bury their dead.
Mark Twain (1835-1910) author and humorist wrote: “Man is the only animal that blushes – and the only animal that needs to!”
The start of Genesis 1:28 says after the Lord had created humans: “God blessed them …” I think that is how we are supposed to reign as well.
“He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else.” Jesus
