THE WAY OF SONS #2
Jesus was the perfect Son. He was able to say, “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.” John’s gospel says, “No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten of God (Son), who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him (Father).” Jesus said, “not that any man has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.”
Because Jesus has ‘seen the Father’ and ‘knows the father,’ we notice that ‘He explains Him’ saying “no one comes to the Father, but through Me”, and “if you had known Me, you have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father abiding in me does His works.”
Jesus fully succeeded in his Sonship by bearing the nature of the Father. The nature of the Father is love and it is manifested in and through “grace and truth that was realized through Jesus Christ.” So, the works, actions, behavior, teaching, attitude, focus and intentions of Jesus are exactly those of the Father. Whatever Jesus does, he is only a pattern of what the Father does. All the things Jesus does not do are things the Father does not do. Everything we do which is like what Jesus does is verification we are sons of the Father also.
“If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” Jesus
