THE THRESHING FLOOR IIII
There is yet another consideration when David bought the threshing floor from Araunah in 1 Chronicles 21. (See last three Journal entries)
We know from 2 Chronicles 3:1: “Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.”
Mount Moriah (now referred to as The Temple Mount) is the same Mount Moriah (meaning ‘the land of Yahweh’ in Hebrew) Abraham was instructed by the Lord to take his son Isaac and sacrifice him. (Genesis 22) The story of course is a shadow story of the Crucifixion 2000 years before Christ. Here is the context:
“Take your only son,
Isaac, the son you love,
and go to the land of Moriah.
Kill him there and offer him as a whole burnt offering
on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” (Genesis 22:2)
Moriah was three days (third day principle) journey for Abraham.
“On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey. My son and I will go over there and worship, and then we will come back to you.” (22:4-5) (Like the companions of Jesus in the Garden.)
“God will give us the lamb for the sacrifice, my son.” (22:8) As we know Isaac was spared in this story and The angel of the Lord said: “Don’t kill your son or hurt him in any way. Now I can see that you trust God and that you have not kept your son, your only son, from me.” (22:12) The language and story are very similar of course to the death of Jesus. Of course, the difference is… the Father did not spare his Son.
(Note: I have never understood the Abraham and Isaac story… among several other stories.)
“Your father Abraham was very happy that he would see my day. He saw that day and was glad.” Jesus
