THE SNAKE
My friend Charlie told me this story called:
‘The Little Girl and the Rattlesnake’
“One day a little girl was walking down the road and saw a rattlesnake over in the ditch on the side of the road.
The rattlesnake said, “Hey, little girl, would you pick me up and take me across the road because I am afraid I might get run over if I crawl across?”
The little girl said, “No, if I pick you up you will bite me.”
The snake said, “No, I won’t because I am a good rattlesnake.”
The little girl again said, “No, I think you might bite me if I pick you up.”
Finally the snake convinced her and she picked him up by the back of the head and carried the snake across the road and put him in a ditch on the other side of the road. As soon as she put the snake down it struck and bit her.
The little girl crying said, “You told me you were a good snake and would not bite me.”
The Rattlesnake said, “You knew what I was when you picked me up.”
The devil has more moves and tricks than a Swiss Army Knife. If we believe his con and constant buzz about being a good guy and a smart guy and a fixer…we are sunk and have been bitten. The biggest bite is to believe the devil does not exist. Rattlesnakes exist as well. We know what he is when we pick him up. A liar.
“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Jesus
