THE SILVERWARE SERIES
# 1 THE ORIGIN OF SILVERWARE
About 17 million years ago most of our ancestors did not use Silverware but used their fingers to feed themselves. Trouble was after dragging their fingers as they walked meant they usually had dirty fingers after picking up lizards, bugs, wild berries and onions. Then after killing and preparing an Aerodactylus or a Barosaurus their hands were really messy.
Silverware started when teeth from Saber Toothed Tigers (Smilodon) and various bones from small birds and animals plus sticks and stones of many sizes and Clam shells (Mercenaria mercenaria) were all used by these early ancestors. It was first called Saber Ware because of the large sharp teeth instead of Silverware. Silverware came later from the appearance of bleached and shiny bones. Most of what we know was written on the walls of caves. Some actual pictures of Place Settings of Saber Ware have been found showing the proper order and kind.
The first known cave paintings and actual artifacts of Saberware were found in the cave of Artie and Alice Agor about 15 million years ago. It shows several paintings smudged out because the place settings were out of order. But eventually the standard was set and to this day our Silverware, as was theirs, is placed very specifically when we eat. The paintings even show an ancient atlatl and spear to help protect the dining experience. The proper storage, sorting and placement of Silverware would soon become the beginning of a specific type of development and therapy for all humans. No, really… this is what happened.
