THE SAME PAGE
The phrase, ‘on the same page’ means that two or more people are in agreement or understanding about the same issue.
But what if we are all on the same page… but it’s the wrong page? This might be difficult to sort out if it is the wrong page we have agreed upon. That could just mean we are on the same wrong page. I suppose even that is a certain kind of unity. Or, where have we gone and have I gone with it?
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) essayist and journalist wrote to a friend, “If anyone proved to me that Christ was outside the truth, and it really was so that the truth was outside Christ, then I would prefer to remain with Christ than with the truth.” So even if you proved to me that we were on the same wrong page or right page, I would hope to land in step with this famous, and one of my favorite, quotes” ‘and it really was so that the truth was outside Christ, then I would prefer to remain with Christ than with the truth.’
That, and that alone, would put me on the same page with others.
“Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” Jesus
