THE SAME MOUTH
“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart” (Luke 6:45).
Jesus is so refreshingly clear, simple, and helpful when he says that “What you say flows from what is in your heart” (Luke 6:45). Another version says, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (NKJV).
There is not much mystery in understanding this concept: “If a person is angry, rude, lewd, or immoral on a regular basis, you can be assured that this is what they are like “on the inside.” If a person is consistently kind, encouraging, and polite, then you can be sure that is what they are like “on the inside.” Of course, it is possible that someone might put up a façade to deceive others regarding their character, but eventually what is inside will come out. The mouth speaks out of the abundance…the overflow…of the heart.” (Got Questions)
The conflict is when out of the Same Mouth may come both. Given the right conditions we can go off easily into Badmouthing or Goodmouthing. What comes out is what is in our hearts. James, an apostle, says it just as plainly: “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so” (Jams 3:10).
