THE RAT RACE
“A rat race is an endless, self-defeating, or pointless pursuit. The phrase equates humans to rats attempting to earn a reward such as cheese, in vain. It may also refer to a competitive struggle to get ahead financially or routinely. The term is commonly associated with an exhausting, repetitive lifestyle that leaves no time for relaxation or enjoyment.” (Wikipedia)
“The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.” (Lily Tomlin)
The escape from the Rat Race and from being a Rat is to Invest in the Kingdom. This does not mean we are any less careful, wise and prudent with all investments. It means that giving ourselves into the Kingdom puts us into another race, a more healthy and rewarding race, one that rewards now and forever. Rats don’t know how to give, only to take.
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Jesus
