THE PERFECT STORM
There are many reasons for division. I mean division in marriage, relationships at work, church, business, politics, states and countries… whatever. Many philosophies, theologies, cultural preferences, political choices, and social levels can all lead to small or huge divisions.
When there are enough combinations of several or all of these factors they merge into a perfect storm that tears the ship apart. Rarely does a single issue cause division. Various ideologies start with a premise and form other opinions until a position is formed and then the position is protected and secured by whatever means are necessary. Each side of division has the same basic perceived ideas that are usually opposed by the other side. This is often followed by anger, fear, bitterness, resentment, retaliation and even revenge.
For the storm to be diverted requires very careful and intentional action. As Brené Brown says, “When I’m willing to put the problem in front of us rather than between us.”
“Any kingdom that is divided against itself is being laid waste; and no city or house divided against itself will [continue to] stand.” (Amplified Version) Jesus
