THE ONE
“The most wonderful thing is unity with Jesus and with the Father. In Jesus we shall partake in God if we firmly resist and flee all the arrogant attacks of the prince of this world. Unity of prayer, unity of supplication, unity of mind, unity of expectancy in love and in blameless joy: this is Jesus Christ and there is nothing greater than he. Flock together, all of you, as to one temple of God, as to one altar, to one Jesus Christ, who proceeded from the one Father, who is in the one and returned to the one.” Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556)
Paul, an apostle, wrote to the Ephesian church, “There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
The One who is the One is still the One: “one Spirit, one Lord and one God and Father.”
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” Jesus
