THE NEXT REAL SUPERPOWER

I recently was sent a video called ‘The Next Real Superpower Isn’t Who You Think,’ by Ian Bremmer. In his discussion he makes a very strong presentation concerning popular ideologies about various perceived superpowers including China, Russia, USA, Iran, India and such. But then he changed direction completely from geopolitics to technology. The idea is based on ‘nature, nurture and algorithms’ from digital technology to form opinion, give direction, impose economics, set rules and even suggests consequences. He believes the next Real Superpower is digital technology. I agree with him except I think it has already happened.

I found his thesis and presentation to be very possible and very sad and troublesome. I wrote to the one sent this video to me: “Very insightful and I think quite accurate. It is also a rather dehumanizing idea of mankind and I also think that is accurate. When anything can replace the brain and reason with data and AI there is the absence of conscience. That is a destructive combination.”

I have thought some more concerning this and have determined it is robust idolatry and deception to assume life functions without conscience. I fear this moves us more quickly toward a dark and lifeless state. Help us, Lord.
