THE HEAD
So much emphasis has historically been on the church that it is often assumed to be the agent of salvation. Some denominations clearly state this as fact. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus is the Redeemer. Some may learn and discover him in church, but the responsibility of the church is to move back, lean away from it’s organizational place and put all attention on Jesus. Then it may function as a body when the head is finally and faithfully in place. Otherwise it might be a ‘church body’ with no head. The Headless Church. Scary.
The other option is a manmade head of some kind with big titles, big robes and big hats, sitting in big chairs up on a big stage in a big building with all the seats arranged in big rows that all look down to a central point at the big stage at the person with the big robes and big hat. The Manmade Headless Church. Even scarier.
“He (Jesus) is the head of the body, which is the church. Everything comes from him. He is the first one who was raised from the dead. So in all things Jesus has first place.” (Colossians 1:18
“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me.” Jesus
