THE CALLING # 7
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
By the Lord’s mercy and purposes I believe with every ‘calling’ there are ‘measures’ with the gift:
A measure of gift:
“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” (Ephesian 4:7)
A measure of faith:
“God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
(Romans 12:3)
A measure of sphere:
“We will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us— not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, … and not to boast in another man’s sphere.”
(2 Corinthians 10:13-15)
A measure of grace:
“But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:7)
In our varieties of callings for every believer we have a measure of gifting and a measure of faith for that gifting and a measure sphere (area, territory, placement) for that gifting and a measure of grace for the gifts we have been given.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Jesus
