STAYING WITH IT
There is no one ‘formula’ or ‘fix’ for finding our way into the deeper life. It is all practice, trial, error, success and ‘keep it’ or ‘throw it out.’ As John Wimber (1934-1997) said, “We eat the meat and throw away the bones.” That’s how we learn.
I say:
We stay in beauty until we are beautiful.
We pray until we have prayed.
We fast until we have fasted.
We give until we have given.
We sit in silence until we are silent.
We meditate until we have meditated.
We practice solitude until we are alone.
We cry until we have cried.
We laugh until we have laughed.
We speak in tongues until we have spoken.
We close our eyes until its dark.
We open our eyes until its light.
We listen until we hear.
We hear until we listen.
We know until we don’t know.
We don’t know until we know.
There is no time limit, no boundaries, no method; no secret…we just stay with it.
“Stay awake and pray.” Jesus
