STAYING MARRIED
Recently in the night I heard this word: “To stay married is to continually be marrying in your marriage. If we become ’married’ instead of ‘marrying’ then our marriage becomes settled and set and without newness.”
To marry means: ‘cause to meet or fit together; combine.’ Or, ‘combine one thing with another. Without the energy and effort of constantly marrying our husband/wife we stop growing, changing and forming in our relationship. It seems very important to practice ‘being married’ some more all the time.
I don’t ever plan to be married to Roz, but do I plan to continually be marrying her.
“Marriage is for people here on earth. But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. And they will never die again. In this respect they will be like angels. They are children of God and children of the resurrection.” Jesus
