STAY QUIETLY
Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), polymath and theologian wrote,
“If a man were happy, the less he were diverted the happier he would be… I have often said that the sole cause of man’s unhappiness is that he does not know how to stay quietly in his room.”
He also wrote, “People almost invariably arrive at their beliefs not on the basis of proof but on the basis of what they find attractive.”
“Be brief, say much in few words; be knowledgeable and yet quiet.” (Ben-Sira 32:8)
(Ben-Sira was a second century BC Jewish scribe and sage and author of the Book of Sirach)
“But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.” Jesus
