STAGNANT IN SPIRIT
“It will come about at that time
That I will search Jerusalem with lamps,
And I will punish the men
Who are stagnant in spirit,
Who say in their hearts,
‘The LORD will not do good or evil!’
(Zephaniah 1:12)
The Message Version translates this way:
“I’ll search through every closet and alley in Jerusalem.
I’ll find and punish those who are sitting it out, fat and lazy, amusing themselves and taking it easy,
Who think, ‘God doesn’t do anything, good or bad.
He isn’t involved, so neither are we.”
I think this is a season to be awakened, rattled out of any lethargy, and to be unsatisfied with a ‘stagnant spirit.’ Time to get up, clean up, clear out and bear down hard and lean in strong to the voice of the Lord and the purposes of the Kingdom of God.
I keep seeing many that need ‘New Shoes’ to walk in new paths, to go in new directions with new ideas and new faith. Some stuff needs left behind, especially lazy and directionless stuff.
“But stay alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Jesus
