SPREADING LIGHT
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” Edith Wharton (1862-1937)
In our case we are to reflect the light of Jesus, the Kingdom way and the love of the Father. It seems that the only time we would want to put the lamp under a bowl is when we would rather be in darkness. Meaning we would rather no one see us, or what we are doing. Lampstand living takes some real decisions and commitments.
“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” Jesus
