SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Over the years I have found favorite teachers that have helped to shape me, challege me and correct me. A very long time favorite is:

E. Stanley Jones (1884-1973) evangelist and author. He wrote:

“If I were to pick out two phrases necessary for spiritual growth, I would pick these: “I don’t know” and “I am sorry.”

He also said: “You do not gain Christ through self-control; you gain self-control through Christ.”

And, “Anything that leaves you at the center is off-center.”

Last one for now: “I was released from the fear of emotion. I had tasted three days of ecstasy …drunk with God. And yet they were the clearest-headed, soberest moments I have ever known. I saw into the heart of reality, and the heart of reality was joy, joy, joy. And the heart of reality was love, love, love.”
