SO MANY WORDS
We all hear a lot of words and read a lot of words. Or watch a lot of words. Also, there is a lot written like this Journal and others. And many folks have a daily habit of Bible reading. So many words.
While re-reading the book of James, I was taken by how strongly he approached this subject. He wrote:
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey it; is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” (1:22-25)
There are, of course, many ‘words’ that need no obedience, and should be discarded. There are others that we simply must do the required obedience, make time and effort to do the right thing with all the words that come our way…every day. Obey or throw away.
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”
(James 1:22)
“My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God’s word and obey it.” Jesus
