SHOW ME YOUR FRIENDS
I honestly don’t think it is possible to live out our purpose without the help of other people. By other people I mean those who are with you on your journey; people who will cheer you on, support you, and believe in you.
There are too many negative people out there who (whether they realize it or not) pull you down and hinder your potential. “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future,” writes Paul Sohn
The people we associate and spend time with influence us… either for better or worse. Surround yourself with a few people who will help you grow. The Book of Proverbs tells us, “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.” Paul, an apostle wrote, “Do not be fooled. Bad companions ruin good character.”
The encouragement of Solomon from Ecclesiastes is perhaps the best reason for strong friends to help us grow, “Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him. If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how can you keep warm by yourself. Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break.”
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.” Jesus
