ROOSTERS AND SIRENS
Just about everyone knows what a crowing rooster sounds like. The piercing sound can be heard a long distance. The big rooster book says a person can hear them crowing a half-mile away.
One day I was listening carefully to an ambulance siren that was coming near. For the first time I heard the sequence and decibel sound like a rooster crowing. Everyone listens to this sound. Then the ambulance (other emergency vehicles) may change to a different sequence and tone… then back to the rooster. Just like the neighborhood rooster… everyone hears the siren.
It became much clearer to me what Jesus said about his return… “No one knows when the master of the house will return.” (Mark13: 32-37) It will be like a siren going off… or a rooster crowing.
“It is like a man going on a journey. He left his house and put his slaves in charge, assigning to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert. Stay alert, then, because you do not know when the owner of the house will return—whether during evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or at dawn— or else he might find you asleep when he returns suddenly.” Jesus
