ROLLING THE STONE AWAY
A stone was placed at the entry of ancient tombs to encapsulate and preserve the dead. The stones were usually heavy and not easily moved without effort. When recently reading the story of Jesus being put into such a tomb I thought of many other things that are hidden, wrapped in death and pushed down into caves of emotion and pain that need to have a stone rolled away from them and allowed to be set free.
Issues like anger, fear, unforgiveness, divorce, unwise decisions, debt, greed, resentment, pride, arrogance and a dozen other rock-like death decaying situations we have gotten ourselves into. We need to be let out of the tomb and the stone must be rolled away. But, thank the Lord…the same power that released Jesus and removed his tomb stone can also remove ours.
“The stone was rolled away from the tomb, not to let Jesus out, but to let the world in.” Steven Lawson
But I say…our stone is to be rolled away to let the world out and let Jesus in.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!”
