RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE

The Book of Isaiah boldly states, “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken. I will test you with the measuring line of justice and the plumb line of righteousness.” (Isaiah 28:16-18)

This is the prophesied coming of Christ. He was, and now is, the trusted cornerstone that has been firmly laid and tested for all to build upon. The cornerstone in the foundation is where two sides of a building come together to make the entire building strong, level and straight. The metaphor is to show us the government of God: righteousness and justice… the measuring line and the plumb line coming together in Jesus the cornerstone. We are to accept and live freely in grace in this governance by the power of the Holy Spirit on the solid rock cornerstone of Jesus Christ. “It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on.”
