RIGHT FOLLOWING
There is no limit to what we may increasingly become as we constantly set our focus on God and the potential for transformation into the image of God. We must be clear that it requires action on our part. Just thinking it so does not make it so. We are to follow and that means to get up and take off after what we are following.
Many have been stopped short because they tried to follow a woman or man, a pastor, priest, teacher, somebody… before they first followed the Lord. It is perhaps important to follow a leader but only if the leader is following Jesus. No one is called to blindly follow bad leadership no matter what title or office they bear. Both will fall into the ditch is the way I read it. Stay away from those who ask you to take a hike with them down along some obvious road to the ditch.
Any following besides true following can be cultic, habitual, denominational, and certainly dangerous or just plain unwise. We are to follow the One who knows where he is going.
“Come, follow me.” Jesus
