REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST
Paul, an apostle, made extra effort to explain to the church at Galatia that the gospel he preached to them was given directly to him by revelation: “I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin; for I did not receive it from a human source, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1:12)
After Paul’s conversion he did not go to others to learn about Christianity. “I did not confer with flesh and blood.” (1:16) But he went out into the desert and spent several years (three plus years 1:17-18) out in the deserts of Saudi Arabia just waiting upon God and receiving the revelation directly from Jesus of the gospel according to grace. So this is not Paul’s gospel, this is the gospel of Jesus Christ delivered to Paul who in turn has delivered it to us. This is the truth of Christ; the salvation that is offered now unto you through your faith in Him.
Christ met him on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-9) and he was a changed man. He ministered to the Christians that were there but realized that he needed to know more and went out into the deserts of Arabia and waited upon Jesus where he received the glorious revelation. So he didn’t get back to Jerusalem until about six or seven years after his conversion. For three plus years he returned back to Damascus and stayed there teaching them and then he finally went to Jerusalem.
How different it might be if every person who teaches and preaches the gospel was required to be silent and listen to the voice of Jesus for three years… three months…three weeks…three days. Or, at least three hours a week before sharing it with others.
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God’ (Isaiah 54:13) Everyone who has listened to and learned from the Father comes to me—not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God. He has seen the Father.” Jesus
